Have you been itchy to get your hands dirty and make your house look better? Have you been sitting out on your patio wondering if you could put in a fence at the bottom of the yard, or if maybe it was time for a new deck? Or is it time for a new roof or siding? Whether or not you have A Yard Beyond help out, if you want to act on these urges then you need to start somewhere--what about right here? If you need a little inspiration for some projects to get started on, read on.
Patio: Patios get outdated extremely quickly, and not to say that every year you should put in a new patio but every once in a while it deserves an update. After all, a patio is where you spend most of your outside time alone and when you're entertaining your friends. There are many ways to put together a patio, be it with cement, paving stones, or any of the many other strategies. Either way, you won't regret investing time and money into this project as you will find yourself spending lots of time on it.
Deck: Similar to the patio, this is where you spend a lot of your outside time reading, scrolling, or just watching. If you have a wood deck, it might need power washing, staining, or new paint. Or, if you're ambitious and good at doing DIY projects, it might be time to put in a whole new deck. This can be a good project as you'll spend quite a bit of time dealing with wood, nails, and ladders but if you do it right it can be a great place to spend time on and entertain. Don't forget that often you'll want to put stairs down to the ground so that you don't have to go back inside and out the front door to get to ground level.
Fences: Privacy is one of the most desired things in a yard for everyone. Because of this, putting in fences can be a satisfying job (once it's done, of course) because you'll find that not being able to look into your neighbor's windows (and having them look back at you) is a great relief. Remember that in Colorado Springs your fences cannot be taller than 7 feet, even if your deck or patio is on a hill and the fence is being put at the bottom of the hill. Doing fencing might require you to hire someone or at least hire outside consulting because it requires very specific measurements to put in the crossbeams and support bars.
Door: Painting your door is a fairly easy activity that will add a lot of curb appeal to your house. Make sure the paint that you buy is a color that will compliment the rest of your house (often, doing touch-up paint with the color that the door already is is the best idea).
Hopefully, these home improvement project ideas scratched the itch and gave you some ideas to get out to a hardware store and buy some supplies to build that new patio, deck, fence, or whatever the project might be for you. Enjoy your improved house!
